a US consortium then purchased the airframe and finally it returned to the UK where it has only recently been released as a restoration opportunity. for over 40 years thereafter it was used as a gate guardian in various bases in Burma. The aircraft was finally delivered to No1 Squadron ubaf in Mingaladon, Burma in February 1955, but only a few months after arriving it suffered a forced landing and was struck off charge. It’s itinerant life contined with moves to bases such as Manston, Coltishall and Ludham where it’s prime duty was bomber support. My spitfire has held zero without issue even after several bumps and tumble that occur any time your take a gun for a walk.
